Steady By Name, Steady By Trade
Dad was an electrician, but I was always the kid staring at the equipment on-site. If a job didn't have machines running, I wasn't happy about it. By my last couple years of high school I was working trail at the Angel Fire Bike Park, and that's where I got behind the controls of an excavator for the first time. Seventeen years later I've run excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, graders, and snowcats, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I left Angel Fire for a while, traveling, kayaking, operating wherever the work took me. Helped build a sewer treatment plant in Oregon, ran snowcats in Utah. I've been lucky enough to build a career around something I'm actually passionate about.
Eventually I made my way back to Angel Fire and started with Kite Construction, went from laborer to foreman in a year and a half, and stayed foreman for six more years after that. I'd had a taste for running my own company for a long time, and by the end of my time at Kite, my finish work had a name around town. It scared me for years to actually do it, but it was time to build something for my own future. Almost two years in now, I couldn't be happier with where I'm at. I feel blessed to have a career I enjoy, no matter what the job is.
